Powell, OH - The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium offers wild gift ideas that tame the stress of holiday shopping while supporting animal care and conservation.

Purchase a gift membership and give a year filled with fun and adventure.  Family memberships are just $89 and provide free admission to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium for a full year including Wildlights and other special events.  Benefits also include free parking, subscription to the membership magazine, member-only discounts, and free or discounted admission at more than 100 zoos across the country.  You can even add the Wilds, a 10,000-acre conservation center located right here in Ohio, to your membership for just $75 more!

Give someone the gift of a summer of thrills and adventure with a 2011 Zoombezi Season Pass for $79.99 per person.  For just $20 more season passes can be upgraded to a Gold Membership which adds a full-year of Zoo admission and free rides including Jungle Jack’s Landing (excludes pony rides.)

Safari Tours at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium are up-close encounters with the animals.  These unique adventures start at $350 for Columbus Zoo members and experiences include observing a tiger training session, diving in Discovery Reef, assisting with the care of koalas, feeding manatees, and meeting the animals made famous on TV by Jack Hanna.

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium shops offer a wide variety of animal themed gifts including hand-crafted African art, apparel, plush, kid’s toys and games, jewelry and books.  Copies of the Zoo’s books such as “Frenemies For Life” and “Beco’s First Year” are also available.  During Wildlights the Zoo has a Little Elves’ Secret Shop where parents can purchase vouchers for $5, $10 or $15 and let their children shop for family and friends.

Adopting an animal at the Columbus Zoo is a unique, rewarding, and fun way to share a love of animals by helping Zoo staff provide enrichment items for the animals such as fresh eucalyptus for koalas or floating toys for the polar bears.  Plus, the symbolic adoption creates an instant and deep connection with a favorite Zoo animal.  Adoptions start at just $50 and a special holiday polar bear adoption includes a stuffed toy or polar bear book. Upgrade your adoption package to $75 and receive a Columbus Zoo stainless steel water bottle, too!

The Zoo’s 2010-2011 Giving Catalogue provides a vast array of meaningful ways to give something special to your loved ones while receiving the joy of knowing you are a partner in the Zoo’s mission to enrich the community’s quality of life and to inspire a greater appreciation of wildlife for the advancement of conservation action.  With something for everyone and every budget the catalog features extraordinary gifts ranging from $15 to support coral reef restoration to $250,000 to purchase a new lift to assist with the care of the Zoo’s rescued manatees.

Many companies will match contributions made to not-for-profit organizations which enable the gift giver to double, or in some cases triple, support of the Columbus Zoo.
