Welcome to the Columbus Zoo, where we are proud to be one of only seven zoos in North America that provide a home for the endangered bonobo!

Known for their remarkable intelligence, complex social structures, and peaceful nature, bonobos are truly unique among the great apes. As you explore our Zoo, you'll have the rare opportunity to observe these incredible creatures up close and learn about the vital conservation efforts that are helping to protect their dwindling populations in their native ranges. Join us in celebrating the bonobos who call the Columbus Zoo home, and discover why they are such an essential part of our global biodiversity.
