So, what's the buzz around the construction going on at the Columbus Zoo? All good things!

While we're enhancing habitats and areas around the Zoo, and ensuring guests have an amazing and safe experience for another 100 years, stay up-to-date on current projects you may see while visiting!

North America TreK update

You're seeing progress in motion! We're working on several habitat redevelopments at the same time, including new spaces for bald eagles, black bears, river otters, and Mexican wolves. With the exception of bald eagles, guests are still able to enjoy viewing all of these species during the renovations.

North America Pathway Closure and Alternate Path

February 3, 2025

Construction is progressing for our incredible North America region redevelopment project! To keep things moving along, we'll be closing the main public pathway in the North America region and providing an alternate route for guests. This closure will be instrumental to the construction of North America Trek, as it will allow us to demo the existing path, install the new walkway, install fencing, along with a host of other items that will be installed along the new pathway.

The map above will help you plan your visit to:

  • North America
  • Polar Frontier
  • Heart of Africa

Guests will begin their journey next to Village Coffee in Entry Village. A stroll down our shuttle pathway will lead you to the intersection of all three regions! Signage will be available at the Zoo, and the mobile app will be updated. There will also be benches along the path to provide guests an opportunity to take a break during their walk.

We expect this detour to be in place through May, and we will keep you updated on our website and on social media.
