9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium will be collecting old single use alkaline batteries so that they can be properly recycled!
Recycling batteries lets us reuse zinc and manganese to make other batteries or fertilizer and lets us reduce waste sent to the landfill. When not recycled, various types of batteries often leak harmful substances into the ground or waterways and can affect human health.
Items that cannot be accepted:
- Rechargeable lithium-ion
- Nickle metal hydride
- Nickle-cadmium
- Lead batteries
The above is subject to change without notice.
Ways to Participate
- Visit the Zoo after you donate your batteries! Day Passes can be purchased here.
- Even if you do not plan on visiting the Zoo this day, you can still participate in the recycling drive! Upon arrival, let the parking booth attendant know that you are participating in the recycling drive and you will be able to enter the parking lot at no charge. Once in the parking lot, head towards the entrance of the Zoo, and you will see the table and tent set up.
