The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is proud to partner with Goodwill to host an item donation drive in celebration of Earth Day!
Instead of sending items you no longer use to the landfill, donating them to Goodwill gives these items the chance to be reused by others.
Accepted items that you can donate include:
- Clothing, shoes, and boots
- Hats, gloves, and scarves
- Jewelry
- Collectibles and antiques
- Books
- Records, video tapes, CDs, and DVDs
- Computers and computer accessories
- Phones
- VCRs and DVD players
- Flat screen TVs made in the last 5 years
- Small appliances
- Household and decorative items
- Kitchenware
- Garden supplies
- Tools
- Office supplies
- Linens, blankets, curtains, towels, and shower curtains
- Furniture like dressers, tables, sofas, and chairs
- Automobiles and boats
Upon arrival, let the parking booth attendant know that you are participating in the donation drive, and you will be able to enter. Once in the parking lot, turn left, and you will see the Goodwill trucks. Please follow the cones once inside the lot.
All items must be in good, clean and working condition. For a full list of items you can donate, please visit Marion Goodwill.
It’s hard to say “no thank you” to a donation when those donations help to fund Goodwill programs. However, we do need to refuse some items for being non-recyclable or containing hazardous materials including household chemicals, automotive hazardous waste, large appliances, upholstered furniture, mattresses and box springs, plumbing fixtures and building materials, firearms and explosive materials, cribs, car seats, and strollers. Please reference the above link for a full list of items that are not accepted and more details.
Even if you do not plan on visiting the Zoo this day, you can still participate in the donation drive!
