Aldabra Tortoises can weigh between 300-500 pounds!
Aldabra Tortoises have a shell more than five feet long and an activity span of only 4 hours a day. Since they are so big and don’t move around much, zookeepers place their food around their habitat to encourage the tortoises to move around to get exercise. This also encourages them to use their natural foraging behavior to look for food.
OhioHealth Tip: Whether you move like a tortoise or run like a cheetah, all movement is good movement.
