Is the Columbus Zoo Lantern Festival suitable for all ages?  

Guests of all ages will enjoy the Lantern Festival! The event is an outdoor walking experience, so please plan accordingly for the weather.

Can guests visit the rest of the Zoo during the Lantern Festival?  

The Lantern Festival is a special nighttime event that will be located in a focused section of the Zoo, and Zoo animals are not the focus of the event. However, you may see a few out-and-about as you stroll the paths!

Where in the Zoo is the Lantern Festival featured?

You'll enter the Columbus Zoo's main gate and into Entry Village. Your journey will then take you through Adventure Cove, into Asia Quest and then through the tunnel and into our Shores region. To maximize your experience, download the Zoo's free mobile app!

Can I purchase tickets at the Zoo gate?
•              Tickets can be purchased at the main gate of the Columbus Zoo.
•              You can also purchase tickets on this webpage and skip the ticket lines.

What does my ticket include?

Ticket price includes admission to the after-hours event, unlimited and free rides, and two nightly shows highlighting Asian culture featured at our Lakeside Theater. Parking is free for this event.

Are tickets refundable? 

Tickets are not refundable but can be used during any date that the Lantern Festival is offered.

Can I purchase tickets as a gift?

Tickets to the Columbus Zoo Lantern Festival make a great gift! Gift tickets can be purchased online. You can either print them out or email them to the recipient.

Are there any discounts to see the Lantern Festival?

Members of the Columbus Zoo, Zoombezi Bay, and The Wilds receive a discount on admission! Just show your member ID at the gate or enter your ID number when purchasing tickets online. 
 

Can I use the Zoo's mobile app to enhance my visit?  

Yes! Download the free 'Columbus Zoo and Aquarium mobile app to your smartphone. 
•              Allow for notifications from the app
•              Make sure your bluetooth is turned on prior to entering the Zoo.

Can I bring my own food and beverages?  

Food, non-alcoholic beverages, baby formula and special diet items for medical purposes are permitted inside the Zoo as long as they comply with the Zoo's Cooler policy.  
For the health and safety of our animals, we do not permit or use straws or lids on beverage containers. Heavy duty souvenir cups with lids and straws sold by the Zoo are permitted.

Will rides or animal areas be open at the Zoo?

The following rides are included with admission:  Grand Carousel, Tidal Twist, Flying Clipper, Mission Macaw, and Havoc Harbor.  Rides are subject to weather, mechanical, and operational availability.

Is this a sensory-friendly event?
•              There may be loud music and sound effects which may cause discomfort for people with sensitive hearing. 
•              Sensory kits are available in the Zoo's Guest Relations office on a first come, first serve basis. A refundable deposit of $10 is required.

Are service animals or pets allowed?

Service animals are permitted, but pets and emotional support animals are not. 
 

I am a member of another Zoo...Do I receive a reciprocal discount for the Columbus Zoo Lantern Festival?

The Lantern Festival is a limited-time immersive experience that the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is hosting. Reciprocal admission discounts do not apply to special events.

If I am visiting the Zoo and have tickets to the Lantern Festival on the same day, can I stay in park until the event begins?

The Zoo closes at varying times during the months of August and September and our security team will fully clear the park in order to prepare for the evening event. You may bring your Lantern Festival ticket to the turnstiles at 7:00 p.m. for entry. Please visit our Hours and Rates page for a full list of 2024 operating hours.
