Columbus Zoo and Aquarium Announces New Vice President of Communications and Marketing

Powell, OH — The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is pleased to announce the hiring of Nicolle Gómez Racey as the organization’s new Vice President of Communications and Marketing. She will begin her role at the Zoo on Friday, July 31.

Racey brings with her more than 20 years of experience in the business of storytelling that has resulted in connecting with a variety of audiences. Her leadership experience in communications and marketing has ranged from within the newsroom to the nonprofit sector, all within the Central Ohio community. Racey currently serves as the Director of Marketing and Communications for Volunteers of America Ohio & Indiana, where she leads the execution of brand strategy, communication and marketing initiatives in both states. Previously, she was the Director of Communications and Marketing at Susan G. Komen Columbus, the largest Race for the Cure in the country. Her other professional roles have included serving as the Public Relations Manager for Thirty-One Gifts, as well as news producer for WBNS-10TV. A graduate of Ohio University, Racey is also a member of Sunny 95’s 2014 class of 20 Outstanding Women.

Racey resides in Central Ohio with her husband, Mike, their two sons and two wheaten terriers. Outside of the office, she enjoys photography, gardening and cooking. She is also an avid fan of the Food Network, HGTV and documentaries on Netflix.
